What are they?

Four mandatory “self-paced and online” modules of 100 marks each i.e. (Sets A, B, C, and D) encompassing different fields which a student can learn and qualify for at their own pace.

At what stage is one supposed to apply for them?  A student is eligible for these modules after qualifying for the Intermediate level Examination.

Format of the Modules: Students will be provided with e-books, and a few modules are promised to be made available as physical books as well; apart from this there are video lectures by industry experts via a DLH- Digital Learning Hub. Each registered student is supposed to dedicate a certain number of hours for each module they opt for which will be calculated by the DLH itself. Timely QA sessions are promised to be organized by the ICAI.

How can I Register for these? You choose your elected modules for Set C & D while you get yourself registered for the CA final exam. It is to be noted that the ICAI is charging no extra fees for these modules.

How will I be assessed for these Modules? Students will be assessed online based upon MCQs from case studies for sets A & B while for Sets C & D there will be a combination of individual MCQs and MCQs from case studies. One needs to be equipped with and will be questioned based on knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of concepts.

Passing Criteria: A student needs 50% marks in each module while multiple attempts are allowed, and one can change the elected subjects in Set C & D in any following attempt.

Passing the Modules opens your gates for the Final exam, however, the marks that you score from the modules will not be aggregated in your CA final exam attempt.

Purpose: To inculcate critical and interdisciplinary thinking among students and encourage research and innovation.

Aligning with the objective of the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP, 2020), the ICAI is trying to foster a more holistic and multi-disciplinary education to make students evolve intellectually, aesthetically, socially, physically, emotionally, and morally. The self-paced modules, as per the ICAI, lay stress on “how students think” rather than “what they think”.

All of these revolutions in the format of the entire course are purposed towards inculcating cross-disciplinary thinking amongst students and enabling them in solving real-life problems that they face once they qualify as chartered accountants. It makes them industry-ready as well as good citizens of the country.
