May, November, then May, then November again; are you finding yourself stuck in this loop ?

You are not alone, as per a ‘Times of India’ report published in 2018, the pass percentage for May 2018 final CA exams was recorded as 14% for students who appeared under the new syllabus, while it was 17.48% for students who appeared under the old syllabus.

Here are a few solutions to help counter the repetition,

  • It’s never ok if you doubt yourself: You are feeling all the negative emotions all at once, you’re almost hating yourself, totally doubting yourself to the ground. No, that’s not a sustainable solution. You do not attach your entire life to an exam. A mere exam isn’t your life. If you don’t believe in yourself, then no one else will. YOU teach people how to respect you, and how much to respect you.
  • Learn from your mistakes: Jot down your methods of learning, see if any of them isn’t working. Jot down the subjects you’re weak at. Change your approach to learning. If you find it ineffective to study from books, switch to an online coach, maybe.

Might as well study from coaches on YouTube, follow their notes, make flow-charts.

  • Comparing is natural, but try to avoid it: It is very much natural for the mind to compare you to others, negotiate your mind to avoid that by showing it your strengths, your skills.

There’s no point in comparing oneself to others when each individual has a different journey, different life situations, different strengths and weaknesses. Comparing serves nothing but more and more negativity.

  • Reconsidering your Decision: Ask yourself, do I REALLY want to pursue Chartered Accountancy, or am I being forced by family or societal influences ?? Is it actually what I’m passionate about ?

It’s never too late to follow your intuition.
